Dr. Kavendra Naidoo

BDS (Otago), MBCHB (Auckland), Dental Surgeon

Dr Kav is the founder of Auckland Family Dental.

Growing up in the North Shore he attended Westlake Boys. After College, he left for Dunedin in pursuit of a Dental degree at the prestigious University of Otago.

On completion of his Dental degree, he accepted a job in New South Wales, Australia.

After a few years of practice there, he developed a keen interest in surgery, and in 2007 returned to Auckland and enrolled at Auckland University to complete his Medical degree (MBChB).

In 2013, Kav established the Auckland Family Dental brand. He has since added multiple dental practices to the brand.

He specialises in all aspects of general dentistry but particularly enjoys Dental Surgery, Implants and Crown work. Kav has completed the POS system of orthodontics and has a large client base.

Kav offers patients the choice of IV sedation during their dental procedures to make their experience more manageable.

Kav is an avid traveller and together with his family, they enjoy travelling and pursuing outdoor activities.

Dr. Soyeon Oh

Soy’s family is originally from South Korea, but Soy spent most of her childhood in Tauranga before moving to Dunedin to study Bachelor of Dental Surgery.

Soy is a gentle and caring dentist, who genuinely enjoys building a trusting relationship with her patients. She actively engages in professional development courses to stay up to date with the latest technology and to provide a wider range of evidence based treatment options for her patients.

Soy provides all aspects of general dentistry, and has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and oral surgery. She offers IV sedation as part of treatment for our anxious patients.

Outside of dental, Soy enjoys finding new hobbies, her recent additions include playing the harp, and attending wine classes.

Dr Grace Geoghegan

Grace grew up in the windy capital of New Zealand, Wellington. She studied and graduated from Otago University in 2015 and has worked in Auckland ever since.

She spent two years working for the Auckland DHB in a wide range of emergency and special needs dentistry services.

Grace is very experienced in extractions, wisdom teeth surgery, toothaches and emergency dental cases. She also provides IV (intravenous), oral and nitrous oxide sedation for anxious patients. Graces enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, though her interest lies in cosmetic dentistry and cracked teeth (restorative dentistry).

Dr. Susan Bell

Sue graduated from the University of Otago with a bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1982. She and her husband Doug established Drury Dental (now Auckland Family Dental Drury) in 1993, later joining the Auckland Family Dental team.

Sue has a passion for all aspects of General Dentistry.

She has lived in Drury for twenty years and is a mother of four. In her spare time, Sue enjoys gardening, hiking around New Zealand and sailing.

Ervi Ong

Ervi is a fully registered dentist back in her home country, the Philippines.

She had a decade-long apprenticeship under a well renown dentist of modern dentistry in Singapore.She is a firm believer of holistic dentistry, this pushed her to pursue and further her studies in Orofacial Myology which bettered her understanding of the connection between the oral cavity to one’s general health. Ervi enjoys learning and developing new skills, to make her superior in her role.

As an outgoing free-spirit, Ervi love travelling and spending time with friends and family.

Abhiyanth Shetty

Abhiyanth Shetty's journey in dentistry began with his bachelor's degree in dental surgery in 2002, leading to a specialization in orthodontics with a master's degree in 2006. He underwent advanced training in orthodontics in New Zealand, focusing on various aspects such as diagnosis, treatment planning, and neuromuscular orthodontics.

Abhi emphasizes the importance of correct oral posture for normal growth and development. He served as a consultant orthodontist in Dubai and Kuwait, completing additional qualifications in neuromuscular orthodontics.

Currently, he manages the orthodontic department in Auckland Family Dental Clinic and holds positions in two aligner companies, reflecting his dedication to improving orthodontic care and accessibility.

Ria

Ria has been with Drury Dental for over 20 years, being one of our most senior dental assistants. She is the primary assistant of Dr Susan Bell on Wednesdays. Ria has 4 gorgeous grandchildren throughout New Zealand and Australia, keeping her on her toes constantly.

Outside of work, Ria enjoys going to the gym on a daily basis and on weekends you can usually find her hiking or reading in the sun.

Bern

Bern is one of our longest standing dental assistants. She has been with our Drury team since 2013.

Originally from the warm Philippines, she made her way to the New Zealand with her family.

Outside of work, Bern enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends. She is also an avid pet person, with a pet bunny and 2 birds.

Xin Li

Xin graduated from the University of Otago with a bachelor of Oral Health in 2018. Before entering the field of Dentistry, Xin earned his degree in nursing and spent a few years working as a registered nurse.

With a belief everyone can benefit from hygiene treatment. Xin has a strong focus on ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care in a gentle manner; his priority being the patient’s comfort.

Outside of the practice, Xin enjoys spending time with his young family. Xin and his wife have 1 daughter, who keeps them busy.
